The Urban Design Department is responsible for the long- and short-range thinking that shapes the physical form of the city.  Based on the City’s Comprehensive Plan and 2019 Citywide Master Plan, the City recently updated the Land Development Regulations for the downtown and surrounding historic neighborhoods.  The City’s Land Development Regulations are a regulatory framework that guide private sector investment to desired locations and, through the use of architectural and landscape design provisions, ensure that new development adds to the unique history, climate, and economy of Punta Gorda.
