Welcome to the Punta Gorda Police Department.  We are a full-service police agency with 49 sworn personnel, 21 professional staff members, 3 reserve officers, and over 65 volunteers.  The City of Punta Gorda is the only incorporated city in Charlotte County, Florida encompassing 32 square miles including water and has a population of approximately 20,405 residents.  The Punta Gorda Police Department is comprised of several units that serve our community: Uniformed Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Community Services, Marine Patrol, K-9, Communications, Records, Volunteers in Policing, and others. The department has been accredited since May 27, 1998 and has received Excelsior status with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation five times - most recently in June of 2025.
