Review deadline October 3!
The Standard Operating Procedures (policies) of the Punta Gorda Police Department have been developed and issued under the authority of the Chief of Police for the purpose of maintaining the highest possible level of service to our community. These policies and procedures have been developed with our core organizational values of integrity, excellence, fairness and impartiality, respect, and teamwork in mind. We routinely review evidence-based research from the Department of Justice, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Police Executive Research Forum, Commission on Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, and other professional organizations to ensure that our policies and procedures reflect national best practices. All of our Standard Operating Procedures are reviewed on biennial basis at a minimum. All high liability Standard Operating Procedures are reviewed on an annual basis at a minimum.
In an effort to remain transparent with our community, the Punta Gorda Police Department has made our Standard Operating Procedures publicly accessible with the exception of policies and procedures that contain confidential information and are exempt from public disclosure.
